Program notes

Part Baroque solo sonata with continuo, part chamber music trio, Serenade No. 2 was written in the fall of 2009 and is dedicated to my friend and colleague Aldo Abreu. The relative independence of the instruments departs from the older practice of using the harpsichord and ‘cello as accompaniment. The overall effect of the piece should be one of good-humored teasing, befitting the nature of a serenade.
